Mission of the Centre for Teaching and Learning

The mission of the Centre for Teaching and Learning is to foster progressive, inclusive, and transformative education by initiating and sustaining collegial discussions about teaching and learning. It will promote reflective teaching practices and embrace evidence-based and developing pedagogies.


Goals of the Centre for Teaching and Learning include
  1. Support and promote cutting-edge instructional strategies that improve learning and engagement among students.
  2. Provide an environment where teaching and learning are constantly improved through opportunities for professional growth and reflective practices.
  3. Provide faculty members resources and assistance to enable them to accomplish their teaching goals and objectives.
  4. Promote a community of practice where academic faculty can communicate, exchange best practices, and gain knowledge from one another.
Responsibilities of the Centre for Teaching and Learning
  1. Provide pedagogy, instructional design, and assessment-related professional development opportunities and support for instructors.
  2. Develop and maintain a collection of resources, including teaching guides, best practices, and sample syllabi, that support effective teaching and learning.
  3. Provide faculty members advice on how to develop courses, deliver lessons, and use evaluation tools.
  4. Promote a culture of assessment and evaluation of the efficacy of teaching by creating and utilising evaluation tools and procedures.
  5. Support the use of learning management systems and other educational technologies, as well as the integration of technology into teaching and learning.
  6. Work together with the deans of the three schools to support their plans and objectives for teaching and learning.
  7. Create and sustain alliances with other institutions and groups to exchange resources and best practices in education.
